Tierney is a third-year law student at Seattle University School of Law where she serves as Secretary for the Health Law Society and was recently elected to fill the position of In-House Competition Chair for the school’s Moot Court Board.
Tierney graduated with honors from the University of Washington with a major in Political Science and a minor in Disability Studies. She spent two summers advocating for the rights of people with disabilities, working with the legal staff at the Seattle non-profit Disability Rights Washington.
Tierney’s interest in advocating for vulnerable populations has also motivated her involvement with the Ronald A. Peterson Domestic Violence clinic, which she begins in the fall of 2011. She also works as a research assistant to Professor Jane Stoever, who has written several articles related to domestic violence and the ways in which the legal system can help victims end their own abusive relationship.
In her spare time, Tierney likes to cook and volunteer with the Community Lunch on Capitol Hill program, which provides free meals.
